Metal Talisman Workshop
Sunday, April 26th from 5-7pm
Join Beth (@somewildbee) of Restless Creatures to create an animal talisman made from lightweight metal to place in your personal space. Talismans have long been used to adorn one’s home in order to harness protection. To make your talisman, you’ll learn an ancient metalworking technique called Repoussé. This method is used to create three-dimensional, relief designs by hammering, pushing, or embossing a malleable metal sheet from the reverse side. Derived from the French word meaning "to push back", Repoussé allows artisans to raise patterns, textures, or figures on the front surface.
Using this technique, you will make an animal and imbue it with drawings that symbolize the qualities you’d like to call in. At the end of our time, we’ll take a moment to consecrate our talismans with extra intention.
This workshop will be fun, intuitive, relaxed, and is totally beginner friendly. No prior experience is necessary. All materials will be provided.
Workshop will take place at Into the Feral located at 2914 W Belmont Ave, Chicago IL 60618
